Tender Notice (Unit five)

 Tender Notice

A tender notice is a notice that is published in the newspapers with a view to inviting rates for a proposed work of construction, manufacture or supply. It is not a letter or correspondence that is sent to individual organizations but a piece of information that is published in the newspapers in the form of a notice. The tender notice generally contains the details of a work and its estimated cost. The contractors can send their rates in a sealed envelope in the tender form provided by the tender inviting organization. The sealed envelopes (tenders) are opened on a day already declared in the notice in front of all the contractors and company officials. Generally, the decision is taken in favor of one who offers the lowest rates. However, the companies generally reserve this right for the sake of quality and may award the contract to one who offers the best quality but slightly higher rates.
